Middle Distance
The Middle Distance squad is a lot of fun to be a part of and we’d love to see you down at the track. We are a very friendly bunch, with people of all abilities from international athletes to those new to the sport, and get together for social events as well as training!
Like the distance and long sprints squads, we are coached by Matt, who sets our weekly training plan. This includes two sessions each week as well as recovery runs, strength and conditioning sets and a drills/mobility/activation session.
In Michaelmas Term we train with the cross-country runners in OUCCC for winter base training before moving on to faster track work for Hilary Term indoor competitions. Over the Easter holidays and Trinity term training is all event specific as we work towards summer competitions such as Varsity and BUCS.
Distance
Our distance squad trains for and competes in cross-country races as OUCCC over Michaelmas and Hilary Terms before hitting the track over the summer, competing in everything from 800m to 5000m and even the steeplechase.
Our coach Matt sets a series of parallel training schedules adapted to our aims and event preferences. He always has time for all athletes from newbies to international competitiors. Like the middle distance squad there are two sessions each week, along with a long run, recovery runs, drills and S&C.
More information can be found about our training on the OUCCC website below.
